The UCL Ice Hockey and Figure Skating Club (‘Ice club’) is one of the newest and fastest growing sports societies at UCL. Established in 2006, it aims to provide its members with the opportunity to experience all areas of ice skating, figure skating and ice hockey.
The club currently consists of three ice hockey teams and are hoping to expand even more in the coming year. In 2015/2016 season, the A team won both British University Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA) league Division 2 and Tier 2 Nationals Championships, as well as the London Varsity against Imperial College London. The team has then been promoted to play in Division 1 and are determined to keep on challenging for the top spots. Also rising to the top is the B team, which has won the Division 2 Non-Checking South for their first season.
Due to growing interest in 2015, the club has also expanded the figure skating division. These two braches of the Ice Club come together at our biggest event of the year – Ice Hockey Varsity. With over 1000 fans at Streatham Ice rink, the unique varsity event is definitely a highlight of the sporting calendar at UCL.
